Tin Can Tourist open house at Camp Dearborn May 19
Vintage camping trailers on display
Dearborn- - Tin Can Tourists, America’s oldest trailer and motor coach club, will host an open house at Camp Dearborn on May 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Approximately 160 vintage trailer and coaches, dating from the 1930s through the 1980s, will be open to visitors during this annual event.
Ranging in size from eight to 30 feet, these tiny restored homes on wheels offer life on the road where space is limited, but style and substance are not.
“Every inch of space in a vintage camper has been well thought out and put to good use,” said Forrest Bone, the club’s Royal Chief.
“Most of these trailers have less than 100-200 square feet, but fully functional storage, sleeping and cooking areas, and they’re ready to hit the road at a moment’s notice.”
Daily admission to Camp Dearborn is $8. Dearborn senior citizens, aged 60 and over, are admitted free with proof of residency.
